Gold Bullion -- Coins or Bars
I have done some light reading on investing in gold - but that was a while back.
What's the trend these days on investing in gold bullion? Bars or coins? Thanks! |
Re: Gold Bullion -- Coins or Bars
Nah, that's all old fashioned stuff.
What you want is gold futures contracts, gold stocks, or maybe the gold ETF. Welcome to GIM! |

My particular preference is for coins - Nothing is more recognizable than Krugerrands and british Sovereigns, IMHO. They are the most prolific 1 oz items around. Further, IMHO coins should be harder to counterfeit than bars. I personally tend towards those things that are more instantly recognizable to those who have little or no interest in PM. |

Good to have you here, spider. Just like AuAg says, the best bet are coins unless, of course, you are buy hundreads of thousands in PM.

I usually buy the 100oz gold bars. Buy at least 10 and you get a discount.:haha:

Welcome to the GIM.
It's coins all the way for me - at least for gold. Currently, they are not practical to counterfeit. If it weighs correctly, and measures the right size, then it's pretty much guaranteed to be the real deal. I think it IS possible to make a fake with the right weight and dimensions, but currently, I think it would cost more to make it than the cost of the gold. Now silver, on the other hand, I have both coins and bars. ST |
